SPECIAL: Kathleen Lynam Beading Workshop
We
are pleased to present a Beading Workshop featuring Kathleen Lynam
who is the bead weaving instructor for the Center for Beadwork &
Jewelry Arts in Nashville, TN. In these three featured classes
you will be introduced to a different bead weaving stitch and
learn about the stitch, some techniques for adjusting your tension
(critical for smooth, even work), adding new thread, and making
design/bead choices for a successful project. Beadweaving is
addictive! The more you know, the more choices you have in
designing a spectacular piece of jewelry.
SESSON
1 - TUBULAR NETTING ROPE
Date: Saturday, July 24, 2010
Time: 2:30pm – 6pm Cost: $35.00
In
this class you will learn how to construct a bead woven rope using
the netting stitch. After the base has been completed, we will
embellish the netting with fire polished beads, 11’s and 15’s. The
closure will consist of a suitable button with a loop fastener. Come early to pick out
your beads.
Students need to provide these supplies:

A Small button
a
Size #10 or #12 beading needles and Nymo Size D thread
a
Japanese seed beads in Sizes 8/0, 11/0 and 15/0 (est. ˝ tube) a
3mm or 4mm Fire polished beads
 
SESSION 2 – FRINGE BRACELET
Date: Sunday, July 25, 2010
Time: 9:30am – 1pm Cost: $35.00
Learn different types of fringe techniques while creating a
bracelet made up of fringes. This bracelet can be done using
your left over beads from other projects as long as they are
smaller in size and roundish beads. Come early to pick out your
beads.
Students need to provide these supplies::
a A Small button
aSize
#10 or #12 beading needles and Nymo Size D thread
aVarious colors of
size 11/0 seed beads, pearls or a variety of 6/0, 8/0 seed beads
or 3-4mm size round or roundish beads
aSize 15/0 seed beads in assorted
colors

SESSION 3 – FLAT SPIRAL REVERSIBLE BRACELET
Date: Sunday,
July 25, 2010
Time: 2pm-6pm
Cost: $35.00
Come learn this
flat spiral stitch and it may open the door to a new addiction .
. . this project can be done in one color tone, but why be
boring . . . since this is a REVERSIBLE bracelet . . . let's
liven things up with two-tones or more!! Photos show just a
few samples of color variations and also the use a larger 6mm
fire polish bead! We will also learn to make a "beaded
bead-it" to use at the end or you can bring a button of your
choice (low shank).
Students need to provide these supplies::
a A Small button or larger round bead
to make "beaded bead-it"
a Size
#10 or #12 beading needles and
Firelin
aVarious colors of
4mm or 6mm beads (Depending upon the size of the center base you
choose), size 8/0 and 11/0 seed beads.
NOTE: Scissors, Work
surface, Bees Wax and Thread Zapper are available for use if
student doesn’t have them.
